The 128-acre Cape May County Park offers a wide range of recreational activities, including a variety of sports, fishing, hiking, bike riding, outdoor concerts, and more. Facilities include covered pavilions, open-pit barbecues, and everything else a family needs for a great outing. But the best feature by far is the Zoo.  The Cape May Zoo is home to over 100 species of wildlife. The relaxed park setting houses tigers and lions and bears, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, and most of the animals usually found in the big zoos.  The Reptile House is as popular here as it is in the Bronx Zoo, and the Monkey House is lots of fun. See birds flying around in the Aviary and then visit the Children's Zoo, where domestic animals can be fed and touched.

Popcorn Park Zoo
1 Humane Way, Box 43
Forked River, New Jersey 08731
Phone: (609) 693-1900
One of the only Federally licensed zoo's of it's kind in the United States, Popcorn Park was established in 1977 for the sole purpose of providing a refuge for wildlife that is elderly, sick, abandoned, abused or injured, and which could no longer survive in the wild. As time went on, they expanded to accept exotic and domesticated animals who faced the same circumstances. Over 200 of these animals now live in spacious surroundings in the heart of the scenic Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. The seven acres devoted to the Zoo have been left in their natural state, and are graced by indigenous Scrub Oak and Scrub Pine.  Among the many attractions to the Zoo are a mighty African elephant, beautiful Bengal tigers, Lions, bears, monkeys, farm animals and reptiles!  What makes this Zoo so unusual, is that each and every animal has its own special story, its tale of a cruel or endangered life, and a happy ending for all to see.

Located in Van Saun County Park, is home to a wide variety of wild and domestic animals, living in recreated habitats natural to each species. The grounds are well-maintained, and the animals well cared for -- important for you and me. Without zoos like this that participate in the Species Survival Plan, the world would be a much poorer place.  This zoo has many different species of birds, some exotic and rare, such as the endangered Andean condor. Reptiles, like the Red-footed Tortoise, the Green Iguana, Boa Constrictor, and American Alligator will be found here, as will mammals such as the Ferret, Opossum, Arctic Fox, American Bison, Mountain Lion, Golden Lion, Tamarin, and many, many others.

With a family of 5 and living on a budget, we don't travel as often as we would like. We usually only get to take a trip once every 2 years or so. So, when we do plan one, it is a big deal and a lot of work. We try to squeeze in as many visits to as many relatives and friends as possible. Renting a car is the cheapest and most logical choice for vacationing. If you check into airplane tickets for a family of 2 adults and 8 children, round-trip airfare alone is over $2000. Train or bus tickets are usually over $100 a piece and if it is a long trip, you have to sleep in a room no bigger than a closet or, worse yet, in your seat. Those situations are ones that I try to avoid with children. So, I suggest checking into the cost of a rental car. Recently, I did just that. My family, along with my sister and her son, needed to travel 1500 each direction to attend a wedding. I called several car rental agencies and wrote down many price quotes. Many rental agencies would not let us drive beyond the 3 states that surround New Jersey and some wouldn't even allow us to leave the state. I was able to find 2 agencies (in my area) that would allow us unlimited mileage, EWR Airport Van Rentals and New Jersey Car Rentals Rental Cars . I spent quite some time with each agency on the phone asking questions and finally decided on New Jersey Car Rentals Rental Cars . With New Jersey Car Rentals Rental Cars , I was given an in-city discount* since I resided here and a clean 15 passenger vehicle that was only a year old. The people I dealt with at New Jersey Car Rentals Rental Cars  were extremely helpful and courteous. The total cost was less than $950 for 10 days. For 15 people, traveling to Northern New Jersey from New Jersey, that is an incredible deal! I highly recommend New Jersey Car Rentals Rental Cars . They have many offices nation wide to assure reliability in the case of a breakdown. The people are polite and the vehicles are clean and newer. I have rented from the twice in the last 2 years and will continue to rent cars from them. Call New Jersey Car Rentals Rental Cars  today! 1-888-718-0001
